The Elisa Carrillo Cabrera Foundation A. C. was created in 2012 with the main objective of promoting the dissemination, education and development of dance in Mexico, nationally and internationally, as well as to support and encourage other artistic-cultural expressions of the country.
It was founded by Elisa Carrillo Cabrera, principal dancer of the Staatsballett Berlin and member of the International Dance Council of UNESCO.
Since its creation, the foundation has worked to promote the art of dance in Mexico, boost the talent of Mexican children and youth, improve the quality of dance and spread the image of Mexico abroad.
During this time and with great effort – sometimes by itself and other times in collaboration with institutions or with governmental support – the foundation has obtained considerable achievements, such as: Organize, produce and present eleven galas of ballet of great artistic quality and with international figures. Of these, nine were addressed to vulnerable publics or with few opportunities to access artistic expressions such as ballet and had free admission.
Create the ballet choreography of Infinita Frida, based on the life of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. This work premiered in Mexico in 2013 and was successfully presented in 2015 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
To obtain tuition scholarships in European schools for successful Mexican ballet students in the “Becas Elisa Carrillo Cabrera” contest, organized annually by the government of the State of Mexico. With these scholarships students can perfect their artistic training in high-level schools such as the Berlin State School or the Ballet School of the Bolshoi Theater.
Manage and achieve the participation in 2015 of a group of 20 Mexican children at the TANZOLYMP international dance festival in the city of Berlin, Germany. On that occasion, Mexican children obtained a third place in folk dance, competing against dancers from 29 countries.
Support and encourage dance students, for example by paying for their studies of classical dance, and other artistic disciplines. It also helps dance contests that seek sponsorships.
