Mexican Ballet of Disability. It was founded in 2009 in the streets of the east of Mexico City by David Serna to offer an inclusive proposal from the art of dance to people of different diagnoses in disability condition.
Based on respect for the value of sensitivity, this proposal is based on the skills and abilities of each member offering a type of dance that goes beyond the established canons, as an honest and authentic dance emanating from the creative process that enhances the feeling of the performers breaking into the discourse of normality and beauty. We distinguish ourselves in the world because our interpreters are only people with disabilities due to their own teaching methodology.
Nine years after this company was created, we are an artistic movement that has represented Mexico at the International Festival of Disability in Colombia. We have our own Academy of Art and a chorus of women who “sing” in sign language.
